Job Description

The Labor Research Institute AFI at OsloMet is a leading social science research institute with a particular focus on working life, organizational research and service innovation. We have a broad and creative professional environment and a variety of projects. We are an applied research institute that delivers results of a high academic level, while at the same time placing great emphasis on the results being useful and relevant to decision-makers. We are located in Oslo by Bislett.

AFI is interdisciplinary and has researchers with different backgrounds from social sciences and humanities such as sociology, psychology, political science, economics, social anthropology, history, geography and philosophy.

AFI has an increasing workload and we are now looking for a scientific assistant. As a scientific assistant, you will help to relieve researchers in their work and assist in research projects. The position has a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of limited extension 

The tasks will vary, but will mainly be related to assisting with:

  • organization and systematization of quantitative and qualitative studies and data
  • work with data collection, contact with participants and sending out information material
  • analysis of data
  • report and article production
  • administration related to AFI’s projects, including commissioned and NFR projects

Qualification requirements

  • master’s degree or equivalent in social science/psychology
  • very good written and oral formulation skills in Norwegian and English
  • good at documenting and systematizing ongoing activities, which can be used in publications
  • experience with quantitative and qualitative methods 
  • experience with follow-up of participants in a study 

Desired characteristics

We are looking for you who are interested in experimental research on vulnerable groups in society. Current research areas include health services, pregnancy and infants, as well as child protection. Experience with randomized controlled trials is desirable. It is important that you are comfortable communicating with study participants, and experience with telephone interviews is an advantage. We are looking for a person who collaborates well, is flexible, solution-oriented and contributes to the progress of the projects. Experience with the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data is an advantage. We are looking for you who can use qualitative and quantitative data tools in practical work and who can quickly acquire new knowledge about such tools.
