Job Description

As a legal officer, you play a key role in the permit process and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. Your tasks include:

  • Objections and appeals: handling objections, appeals and higher appeal cases in the field of Environmental Act, catering, events and other permits as an authorised representative of the Municipal Executive or the Mayor at the objections committee/court/Council of State.
  • Legal advice: Support for colleagues and applicants in the field of environmental law and special laws (APV, catering permits, events).
  • Assessing applications: Testing applications for legal feasibility and ensuring that they comply with laws and regulations.
  • Communication: Point of contact for applicants and colleagues, explaining legal procedures clearly. You also communicate clearly to management and chain partners, if necessary.
  • Drafting decisions: Motivating and documenting legal decisions.
  • Follow legislation/case law: Always be up-to-date with the latest changes in legislation and case law.
  • Collaboration: Close collaboration with other teams within and outside the department to ensure an integrated approach.

You should also bring:

  • A completed legal education at HBO/WO level
  • Experience with administrative law, environmental law and special laws (e.g. Alcohol and Catering Act).
  • Internal and external customer focus
  • Curiosity, enthusiasm and humor.
