Job Description

In the West police district, currently at the Joint Unit for Intelligence and Investigation, Section for Forensic Techniques and Digital Police Work, Section for Forensic Techniques, there is currently a vacant permanent position as a police superintendent with the function of section leader. The position is located in Bergen.

The section manages the professional responsibility for criminal engineering in the West police district. The department has 16 employees in Bergen and Førde. From autumn 2024, the section will also have a permanent resident arrangement. The section is forward-looking and is characterized by a high professional standard with a focus on development. Employees participate in various projects that promote innovation and development within the field of forensics both nationally and internationally.

There must be some travel activity in the district as the section has district-wide responsibility for forensics. The section has emergency duty outside office hours with a crime scene coordinator and a crime scene investigator.

We are looking for a leader who is a driver for the development of the forensic science profession and contributes to innovation. It is desirable that those concerned can be included in the turn test at the section if necessary.

A delay is taken that there may be a change with a view to realignment.

Work tasks

  • Hire and develop the employees at the section in line with the current guidelines, as well as participate in the section’s leadership group
  • Drive forward development, innovation and skills development 
  • Personnel and responsibility for results in its own section
  • Assess and prioritize matters within the section’s area of ​​responsibility
  • Plan and carry out investigations within the subject area
  • Plan and hire the daily tenesta
  • HSE responsibility at the section
  • If necessary, assist in the investigation and participate in the emergency plan at the section
  • Other tasks assigned by the superior

Qualifications

Necessary

  • Diploma from the Police School/Police College
  • Experience in forensics
  • Extensive police professional experience, preferably also in investigative management
  • Could take part in the police operative service at the section
  • Knowledge of HSE
  • Good results in previous positions
  • Good knowledge of the tasks and challenges in the police
  • Good oral and written presentation
  • Master both Norwegian and English in writing and orally
  • You must have an unblemished character and be fit for service in the police and a police certificate (exhaustive and extended) must be obtained by, if applicable. addition cf. Section 18 of the Police Act and Section 41 of the Police Register Act. The person employed must be able to be security cleared for SECRET 

Desirable

  • Education within organization and management preferably at college/university level and/or leadership experience is emphasized
  • Knowledge of personnel and financial management is an advantage
  • Knowledge of public administration and government contracts is an advantage
  • Experience from change and development processes is an advantage
